Challenge with lottery¶
A challenge can be configured as a lottery, meaning that the users who complete the challenge get a chance to win a prize in a lottery. The draw is done in the Lobyco Portal after the challenge campaign has ended, allowing for the review of the winner list and redrawing any incompatible winners before accepting the final winners.
The lottery system opens a new way to run engagement experiences for your members. This allows running promotions with fewer prizes while keeping the branding for supplier products in the digital universe.
These types of promotions should be seen as a way to complement the standard challenges with instant prizes rather than replacing them.
A challenge can be configured as a lottery by checking the box during configuration. A challenge cannot be edited and changed to a lottery after it has started.
For now, a challenge can be either standard or lottery, and a lottery cannot be run for users who have finished a standard challenge.
Lottery types¶
There are two types of lotteries, depending on how you want to allocate prizes: Global Lottery and Local (store) Lottery.
Global lottery¶
Winners are drawn, and rewards are allocated after the activity ends. The prizes are randomly allocated to winners no matter where they complete the challenge.
Local lottery¶
Winners are drawn per store, and rewards are allocated after the activity ends. This is a type of lottery that makes sure that each store or location gets that specific number of rewards to the users who made purchases, qualifying them in the challenge.
Local lotteries can be used to incentivize members to shop across different locations, as they will have higher chances to win a reward as they buy in more locations.
The number of configured rewards will be allocated for each store from the Challenge where there are winners.
To qualify for a local lottery-specific store, a user needs to make at least one purchase in that store that counts as progress in the challenge.
Lottery rewards¶
There are multiple types of rewards available, and they can be mixed in any way. You can run lotteries with a pool of different types of prizes.
⚠️Note that the reward quantities from the Global Lottery are the total prizes for the entire lottery. For the Local Lottery, these are the prizes for each store.
The prizes are allocated in the order that are inputted in the Reward section. It's recommended to configure first the most valuable prizes, so they are allocated first in case there are not many eligible users in the lottery draw.
Coupon reward¶
Selected coupon(s) are allocated to the users drawn as winners. Coupons that are configured as Challenge Offer can be selected, and the number of prizes can be configured.
Pick-up end date controls the availability of the coupon.

Bonus reward¶
Allows configuring the value of the bonus that is loaded to the winners once the lottery draw is done. For each bonus reward, there are several mandatory configurations, like Name, Bonus value, and Total reward.
You can select the Sponsor that funded the bonus pool of prizes, like Supplier, Store, Retailer, etc. The values from the Sponsor dropdown are configurable on demand.

Custom reward¶
There are usually larger rewards, where the delivery is outside the app, such as home delivery, pickup points, etc. It could be prizes that are shipped by suppliers or game sponsors.

Draw winners¶
The winners can be drawn from the Lottery tab of the challenge only after the activity ends. In case the activity is not finished, a message is shown to indicate this.

There is no limit on the period of time after the activity has finished, and when the lottery can be drawn.
When the activity is completed, the Lottery tab shows how many unique users have completed the challenge and are in the pool of potential winners. Some of them might have multiple lottery "tickets" if the challenge was configured to be auto-renewable.

Draw winners overview¶
The Draw winners button brings up a pop-up to review the Lottery stats and, optionally, input the number of backup winners to draw.

- Stores selected is the number of stores where there is at least one user that completed the challenge.
- Custom rewards is the number of total customer rewards. This is relevant you have an indication of how many back-up winners you might want to draw. If the challenge is a Local Lottery, then this is calculated by Stores selected multiplied by Custom rewards per store.
- Total rewards is the total number of rewards (custom, bonus, and coupons) that the lottery has.
- Number of participants is the unique users that completed the challenge and qualified for the draw.
Backup winners¶
It makes sense to have a list of backup winners for custom rewards since some of the winners might not be able to get the prize (e.g., incorrect contact data in the system).
The backup winners input field is shown only when there is at least one custom reward. For Coupon or Bonus rewards, it does not make sense to have back-up winners, as these are allocated in real time to the accounts of the winners.
Draw winners mechanics¶
Pressing Draw winners randomly selects the number of winners.
A user with multiple lottery tickets has more mathematical chances to win, since a lottery ticket is declared a winner, together with the associated member.
A user can be selected as a winner only once per lottery, even if they have more than one "ticket" in the lottery.
For a Global Lottery, the prizes are first allocated, and then the back-up winners are drawn.
Local Lottery draw mechanics¶
For Local (Store) lotteries, several mechanics should be known.
- The users have a chance in the draw of each store where they made a purchase. Once they win in one store, they can no longer win in any subsequent stores.
- The draw is done store by store for each Store, for all the prizes. The store list is sorted based on the total number of eligible users, descending. If there are the same number of eligible users in two stores, then the order of the stores is random between these two.
- After all the prizes are allocated, the backup winners are drawn store by store, sorted based on the remaining total number of eligible users, descending.

Winners list¶
Once the draw is completed, the winners list is shown. Search can be done by member ID.

The Winners table shows the following data.
- Winner ID - the order in which the winner has been drawn (starts from 1 on each lottery)
- Member ID of the user
- Win date - time when the user completed the challenge that brought him the winning chance
- Draw date - time of the lottery draw when the user was selected as a winner
- Reward title - name of the reward in the Challenge configuration
- Reward ID - internal ID of the reward
- Store - ID of the store where the winner has been selected (shown also for Global lotteries, but not relevant and can be ignored)
Replace member¶
There are different situations when a user should be removed from the winner lists. For example, to exclude an employee who is not allowed to participate in the promotional activity to comply with any lottery drawing rules.
Each user can be replaced individually from the winner lists by selecting this option from the three dots menu at the end of the row.

This brings up a pop-up to specify the reason why the user is removed. It’s a good idea to fill this field with relevant information, as it will be saved in the system and can later be reviewed for audit and compliance reasons.

Draw new winner button replaces the user with another one selected randomly from the remaining non-winning users.
⚠️ Once a user is replaced from a draw, he will not be selected as a winner for this challenge again, even if he has multiple “tickets” in the lottery or Re-draw all is done.
The removed players and the reason for the redraw are shown in the Removed winners tab.

Re-draw all¶
There might be situations when it’s needed to draw more or less winners that were initially inputted. In this case, the Re-draw All button allows to re-draw a new number of winners.
⚠️This does not ignore the previously removed & replaced users. The users that were removed will stay on the list because the reason for initial removal did not change for this challenge.

Approve winners¶
Approve winners button accepts the current list of winners as final and closes the lottery.
A pop-up appears to inform that this action is final and cannot be reverted. All the prizes will be allocated to the winners at this point and available in the App (coupons or bonus).

Once the winners as approved, only the Export function remains active for this lottery. The re-draw and approve winners buttons are deactivated.

Export winners¶
Export button downloads the list of winner member IDs in a CSV file that can be used for other activities, such as pushing a notification to the winners, allocating some bonus or points in an external system as lottery awards, and others.
