Orchestration canvas¶
The orchestration canvas is where you build and manage campaign logic visually.
It is available in the orchestration view of a campaign and allows you to connect activities, targeting, and control logic in one place. This page explains how to work with the canvas itself.
Accessing the campaign canvas¶
You can access the campaign canvas by opening a campaign and switching to orchestration view. If you are creating a new campaign from orchestration view, you land directly on the empty canvas.
The canvas shows the full structure of a campaign, including:
- Activities
- Segmentation and targeting
- Control and operator logic
- Connections between blocks

Canvas layout¶
The canvas consists of three main areas:
-
Canvas workspace
The central area where blocks are placed and connected. -
Block library
Located on the left side. Contains the available blocks that can be dragged onto the canvas. -
Top actions
Located at the top of the page. Used to save, arrange, and execute the campaign.
Building on the canvas¶
You build campaign logic by placing and connecting blocks on the canvas.
You can:
- Drag blocks from the block library onto the canvas
- Connect blocks to define flow and dependencies
- Select a block to view or edit its configuration
- Remove blocks or connections when no longer needed

Editing blocks¶
- Double-click a block to open its configuration
- Select a block and press Delete to remove it
- Select a connection and press Delete to remove the connection
- Use Ctrl + C and Ctrl + V to duplicate blocks
Navigating the canvas¶
To move around the canvas:
- Drag the canvas to pan
- Hold Ctrl and use the mouse wheel to zoom in or out
Saving changes¶
Changes on the canvas are not saved automatically. To save changes made on the canvas, click Save in the top menu.
If you navigate away without saving, changes will be lost.
Canvas actions¶
The top menu provides actions related to the campaign canvas:
-
Copy
Creates a new campaign with the same configuration and access level. -
Arrange
Automatically reorganises blocks and connections to improve readability. -
Count
Executes the campaign in count mode to calculate results without allocating activities. -
Simulate
Executes the campaign in simulation mode. Activities that deliver content to members are skipped. -
Execute
Executes the campaign normally, allocating activities as configured. -
Save
Saves the current campaign configuration.
Enabling execution actions¶
Execution actions are enabled based on which blocks are present in the campaign.

If required blocks are missing, actions such as Execute, Simulate, or Count are disabled. Tooltips on the action buttons explain what needs to be added.
- To enable Execute and Count the campaign must include at least one Member segment block or Seed block
- To enable Simulate the campaign must include a Personal Offers block and at least one Member segment block or Seed block. Simulation is only available when the campaign contains activities and targeting that can be meaningfully simulated.
Why execution may be disabled¶
Execution actions are disabled when the campaign does not yet define:
- who the campaign should run for, or
- which activities should be evaluated or simulated
This helps prevent running incomplete or invalid campaign configurations.
Once the required blocks are added to the canvas, the relevant execution actions become available automatically.
Execution results¶
Execution results are displayed below the canvas.

The execution list shows:
- execution type (count, simulation, regular)
- execution status
- start and end time
- who triggered the execution
You can open an execution to see:
- when each block started and completed
- available output from blocks that produce results

Scheduling and event-based triggers¶
From the canvas you can also schedule executions or set up event-based triggers. Scheduled executions are listed below the canvas alongside execution results.
For full details on scheduling and event-based triggers, see Campaign execution and scheduling.
Using the canvas effectively¶
The campaign canvas is most useful when:
- activities need to be targeted to specific member groups
- campaigns should run repeatedly or automatically
- activities depend on each other
- campaigns should react to events
For simple campaigns with standalone activities and fixed dates, you may not need to use the canvas.
